New Temporary Procedure for Pistol Permit Amendments During COVID-19
Please read the following procedures document for important instructions on how to file a Pistol or Revolver Amendment. Failure to follow the correct procedure may result in a delay in the processing of your permit amendment(s).
When amending your pistol permit there will be a $3 fee for each amendment. You must amend your permit in person at the Ontario County Clerk’s Office. (SEE ABOVE FOR NEW TEMPORARY COVID-19 PROCEDURES.)
Amending your permit can consist of adding or disposing of a handgun and/or changing your name and/or address. A change of address requires the permit be amended in our office within 10 days of the change.
Adding or Disposal of a Handgun
When adding a handgun, we require the make, caliber, and serial number along with the name and address of who the gun came from. If it was purchased from a dealer, we will require a receipt from the dealer showing the make, caliber, and serial number of the gun.
When disposing of a handgun, we also require the name and address of who the gun was sold to along with the make, caliber, and serial number of the gun.
